You guys over there use a 240 volt system for residential applications we use 120 volt system which draws double the amperage than a 250 volt system, but you still have a point, and no, most Americans don’t use that much power, however , some do. Nah, it of course depends on your lifestyle, you can live without any electricity. It’s not like you need a Tee Vee and a computer. Make alcohol, burn it in lamps. Get out more.
And we can make solar at 10 cent per kw, 50 cent in cold areas. Solar paint fit for conventional inkjet printers.

Most homes use 30 kWh per day? My electricity bill for last winter (Dec-Jan) tells me we used and average of 8.4kWh per day – and we live in England – where it gets cold and wet all the time! Do Americans really use up to 30kWh per day?

I guess to prevent fire you would put a metal grill painted white around it – thus – metal doesnt catch fire(most metals) – and painted white it wont expand so rapidly as it deflects heat – if the pipes run underground and then up to the system heat could be gotten much more easily again, as for electric id mix a few panels with wind turbines, – but it does depend on where you live.

Point-focused concentrating solar thermal collectors need to be precisely aimed at the sun to work, so they need tracking mechanisms to follow the path of the sun across the sky throughout the day.
For now this technology is mostly used by utilities, who are building big solar power plants in the desert, mostly using reflective films in parabolic troughs and dishes. I have seen concentrating PV that uses fresnel lenses, but not solar thermal electric
